If you have only one day in Cappadocia, you will want to go on the Red tour.
With Red tour, also known as ”Area Tour”, includes important places to see in Cappadocia. You will experience visiting the biggest museum of Cappadocia, Göreme Open Air Museum. You will also pay visits to important places such as Uçhisar Castle, Love Valley, and Avanos. Visiting three regions of Cappadocia, Göreme, Uçhisar, and Avanos, you will have seen up most of central Cappadocia.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cappadocia between 09:30 and 10:00, and depart for our full-day Classic Cappadocia Red Tour.
Devrent Valley, the most surreal-looking landscape
Our first stop of the tour will be the Devrent valley which reveals many different rock formations, and small fairy chimneys that form a lunar landscape or moonscape by their strange look. By walking through this beautiful valley, you will enjoy seeing animal-like rock formations, that look like a sculpture zoo created by nature. Our tour will continue with Pasabagi (Monk’s Valley) which contains some of the most striking fairy chimneys of Cappadocia, with twin and triple rock caps. This formation shape is unique for Cappadocia and is named ‘mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys. After visiting Pasabagi, we will drive to Avanos town (Vanessa) which is known for its world-renowned pottery handicrafts, a craft dating back to the Hittite period.
The red clay which is worked by local pottery craftsmen is taken from the Kizilirmak river, passing through Avanos town, the longest river (800 km) of Turkey.
After having a delicious lunch in a local restaurant in Avanos town we will continue on tour with the world-renowned amazing Goreme Open-air museum. In Goreme’s open-air museum We will visit the rock churches, chapels, and monasteries carved into the fairy chimneys from the 10th to 13th centuries AD. You will be amazed by the magnificent frescoes drawn on the rock walls.
Before returning to the hotels, there will be plenty of time to take photos of beautiful rock formations and valleys around.
